Ask questions Not all lecture classes are conducive to questions from students, but if you are in a class where questions are welcomed, then be sure to ask them! Not only will this help you to better understand the subject matter and make things less confusing, but it will also help you to build a relationship with your instructor. When asking questions, be sure to identify yourself by name so that your instructor, who has hundreds of students, can buying essay papers and connection between your name and face. If your lecture class is not conducive to questions, consider emailing the instructor after class to ask the questions. Make sure to jot them down when taking notes so that you can remember what you wanted to ask after you are done with class. Talk to the instructor Come in a few minutes early or stay after class to talk with your instructor, ask clarification questions, or to just introduce yourself. If your teacher is not available before or after class, check your syllabus for their office hours and make it a point to speak with him or her near the beginning of the course. If you are struggling in class or just have additional questions to ask, make sure to make use of office hours. Also, remember that many instructors are reachable by email or other electronic means. Talk to your peers In a big class, the sheer number of students can sometimes be overwhelming. Make sure to take the time, though, to not only get to know your instructor, but to also get to know some of the students who are in class with you. Start with those sitting right next to you. Talking with fellow students will help you to feel more connected to the class - and it can also be very helpful when it comes time to prepare for tests! Exchange phone numbers or email addresses with students, or set up a study group to meet outside of class and go over the materials. While large lecture classes can be overwhelming and a bit daunting, these five tips should help those classes feel a bit smaller and help you to feel a bit more engaged in the course!
